Beginning Assignments

Make sure you are looking at previous blog postings regarding the "background" sources. You will be selecting topic this week (see previous posting on the selection of the topic). You are completing a step in the research process as you complete each assignment. The assignments build upon the each other so it necessary to complete each one in sequence (mid-term and final will demonstrate that you have understood what is required). You are working to develop a argumentative thesis statement that will support a position/stance on a particular issue surrounding your selected topic. As you work through the research process you will be adding to your knowledge about the issue and probably revising your thesis. For Assignment #1 I am looking for "detailed" justification" as to why the article would support your position.

NOTE: All of your resources are to be cited in MLA citation format. The databases in these reference sources (CQ, etc.) provide suggested citations which include other formats besides MLA. Make sure you are looking at the MLA format and "adjusting" your cut and paste (If you choose to do this) to conform to the MLA handout in CONTENT which is located under HANDOUTS. These reference sources do NOT require a URL. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS THE ONLY KIND OF CUT AND PASTE I WILL ACCEPT-OTHER INFORMATION THAT IS CUT AND PASTED IS NOT ACCEPTED.
