You will also learn in this class that just because an item is in "print" or made available in "electronic" format does not necessarily guarantee quality information. The "format" of information is not relevant to the quality or the kind of the information that is being presented. More and more of what is considered "traditional" material (print format) is being made available via the web or is "web based." We will, for example, be taking a look at NetLibrary which is actually a catalog of "digitized" books-full text books made available electronically. They are still books whether they are in print form or not. Wikipedia, for example, is a web based encyclopedia but it is still a general encyclopedia that may or may not provide accurate and quality background information on a topic.

FIRST RESPONSE TO DISCUSSION #1
It is hoped that in this class you will be become aware of the variety of "quality" information resources that are available electronically.  This includes how to more effectively use a web search engine such as Google to minimize your search time searching as well as how to search web based book catalogs and subscription periodical databases
