I thought that that the video was very informative on Facebook. I was aware before I signed up for Facebook that everything That I post or respond to is basically for the world to read, but the same holds true for text-messaging, e-mail, etc.,anything where you leave a electronic trail can be retrieved at anytime. I orginally signed up for Facebook to keep tabs on my son who was backbacking through Central America at the time. He could communicate with all his family and friends through one source, and we got the chance to see his trip through his eyes by his postings and pictures. It was nice that I knew where he was most of the time and didn't have to worry so much about him being safe. Facebook is like most media, there's the good and bad points.

Although the video was chock-full of what could have been intimidating facts, I was not surprised by any of them. Of course the government monitors its citizens! That's nothing new. It isn't politically or morally right, but for me, it's expected. I find a sort of satisfaction from realizing that I have nothing to hide, and that some poor computer somewhere (or person, who knows), is sifting through all the garbage that's on my Facebook. My profile has to be very uninteresting, from a government's perspective. So they can have at it, in my opinion; I don't put anything overly personal on there anyways. No phone numbers, no addresses, no hometown, not even my full name. If people really want to know something, they can ask me in person.

Facebook is my favor site and I was I aware the risk of our privacy for example the birth dates. When I first registered the facebook, my birth date was visible to everyone but face book provides option to make invisible your information. Facebook connect me with my family who lives east Africa. It is fantastic web, where you can communicant everyone all of the world. It is good information, sometime scary but there are advantage and disadvantage in facebook

I think we would all be surprised at what is known about us through our internet use. Have you noticed on Facebook and other web 2.0 sites how the sidebar throws up advertising or links to topics or keywords in what we are sending and receiving? Kind of creepy, but then it does cut down on search time, since the site already seems to be aware of our interests!

What I don't like is that they claim ownership of all content posted on Facebook accounts. So if I put an original work on Facebook they essential own a license to the content that they can resell to others. Shady business.

This was very interesting. I knew about the Facebook issue but didn't know the players behind it all. Social networking sites are great tools to connect with individuals around the world or bad in that companies are firing workers over content posted on an employee's page.
